Hailing from Perth, Western Australia, Kym Ellery was born into a creative household, surrounded by art made by her mother (a New Zealander, who worked in textiles, printmaking and ceramics).

After completing a fashion design course in Perth, Ellery made her way over to London, where she attended Central Saint Martins. It was here that she completed a summer school course in fashion illustration and sketchbook design.

Kym was a crucial part of the creative team at Russh magazine for more than four years, during which time the publication rapidly developed into one of the most cutting-edge and renowned fashion titles in Australia.

Kym’s keen eye for design and her avant-garde imagination are clearly visible in the pages of Russh, and are also evident in her internationally recognised eponymous label. Editorial coverage of Ellery has gone from strength to strength, thrusting the label to the elite end of Australian designers.

A bevy of requests have been coming in from Madonna’s stylist to American Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar, and Kym has dressed some of the world’s top models and influential Australian women. Ellery’s fast-tracking from the one to watch to the one everybody wants.
