Felipe Oliveira Baptista

Felipe Oliveira Baptista was born in Portugal in 1975, and graduated from Kingston University with a BA in fashion design in 1997. Between 1997 and 2001 Felipe worked as a designer for MaxMara, Christophe Lemaire and Cerruti.

The designer scooped the Grand Prize at Hyères International Fashion and Photography Festival in 2002, and the following year his eponymous label was launched. Felipe also won the coveted Andam/LVMH Fashion award in both 2003 and 2005.

Baptista's first runway show took place during Paris’ Haute Couture fashion week in 2005, and he was chosen to work on a capsule collection for Japanese mega-retailer Uniqlo in 2006. A longtime favourite of the art set, Felipe showed an exhibition at MUDAM, the museum of modern art in Luxembourg, in 2007, and the following year he worked on aw77, a book and project with Nike, as well as staging an installation during Festival d’Hyères.

The Fédération Française de la Couture invited the designer to take part in an exhibition in Shanghai in 2008 and another show in Sao Paolo in 2009. After the launch of his accessories line in 2008, Felipe held his first show during Paris Fashion Week in 2009. In the following year Felipe became the creative director of classic French sports label Lacoste.
