Chase Cohl a singer, songwriter and the designer behind Littledoe who believes that the 1960/70s era was an inspired generation during which fashion, lifestyle and music blended to create an aesthetically perfect time.
Born in Toronto, Canada, Chase and her family spent much of her childhood on tour with some of the most legendary musicians whose iconic style left a lasting impression. Her deep ties to Hippie culture continued as she immersed herself in Native American Poetry at New York’s Eugene Lang College, and her fascination with animals and nature grew even stronger. After graduating in 2009, Chase found her calling, moving to Laurel Canyon, Los Angeles where she could be surrounded by nature and the lingering voices of the Ladies of the Canyon’s past. Here, she honed in on her singing and song writing while continuing along her path as an accessories maven.
All of Chase’s life experiences are reflected in her label Littledoe, which takes its name from a lake in Algonquin Park, Northern Ontario, where she spent childhood summers. Littledoe was started on a whim in 2008, when Chase’s arts and crafts hobby and incredible eye for vintage finds resulted in her creation of one of a kind head pieces. While Chase originally only designed for herself as a representation of her own character and style, she soon found it impossible to keep her treasures from friends and celebrities and fashion influencers who wanted her feathers and floral embellished pieces for themselves. The line has grown as organically as it was started; now including an array of hand-made raw crystal jewellery, adorned feathered hats and floral lingerie.
While Littledoe has graced the pages of top-tier fashion magazines around the world, Chase stays true to her creations and their inspiration. As she explains:
“Nature inspires everything I do. It is the only constant in this universe, and it is consistently reinventing itself, existing in a bare and beautiful way. Having studied Native American culture and mythology, the Earth Mother is the girl I recreate over and over again in my work.”
