JONATHAN SIMKHAI

THE STORY

New-York based fashion designer Jonathan Simkhai has a clear focus on ‘his girl’ when it comes to designing womens clothes, a love affair that started at the age of 14 where he worked as a buyer and merchandiser at a local boutique. This particular experience gained him an insight into the world of fashion design and since the launch of his first runway collection in 2015, Simkhai has been inducted into the CDFA alongside being named a winner of the Vogue Fashion Fund. A true appreciation for rich fabrics and modern cuts elevates his womenswear above the rest and his balance between masculine strength and feminine sensuality is enough to set pulses racing.

THIS SEASON

Jonathan Simkhai’s SS’17 collection dabbled with the idea of sultry romance, turning up the heat on the runway with fluid and bodycon dresses in silks and filigree lace. Citing inspiration from the Watts Towers in Los Angeles, he worked into his garments with meticulous embroidery whilst establishing his fondness for the V-neck in an array of cami slips, gowns and flowing evening dresses. Architectural influences were also strewn across his demi-couture eveningwear, approached with fringing and cream-coloured lace.
