Clever Treasures

zara-mag-format2

Zara Simon loves the triangle. It is the pervasive shape amongst the rings, necklaces and earrings of her latest fine jewellery collection. In fact, favoured shapes resonate strongly throughout Zara's collections. Simple shapes observed while travelling are often the very starting point of a season, with varying hints and deviations on the original envisioned structure.

This season the triangular shape came to Zara while travelling through Asia: her three most beloved places formed a triangle on the map of the world. It is the strong symbolism and perfection of the shape - both visual and mathematical - that inspired the designer.

'Triangle imagery has been around since early civilisations,' says Zara. 'Trigonometry is the perfect union when two become one; a religious and spiritual symbol'

The stones that speckle Zara's designers are selected first by colour, then lustre. For summer, the preferred colours are pale and opaque, while in winter, deep and transparent. Finally, they are cut and polished to perfection, completing the striking elegance of Zara Simon's timeless treasures.
