ANTONIO BERARDI

THE STORY

Italian fashion brand and designer Antonio Berardi is renowned for womenswear that fully appreciates the female form. After studying at the prestigious Central St Martins whilst working as John Galliano’s assistant, Sicilian-born Berardi decided to pass down the inspiration he took from his mother’s sense of style and create his own eponymous label in 1994. His constant eye on the streets, from London and Paris to New York and Palermo is reflected through ready-to-wear collections drawing on roots in English tradition with an expressive Sicilian twist. Form-fitting dresses are a stylish trait of Berardi’s and his natural feel for materials and clothing to enhance curves is next to none.

THIS SEASON

Antonio Berardi’s famed female silhouette is emphasised for SS17 with corset-like waistlines and demure sleeves against floatier fabrics. Everyday tailoring was given an unexpected lift with contrasting organza sleeves and trousers stepped out in bootcut styles that shimmied with eyelash fringing. As its spring, fresher colours were a plenty with lavender, pebble and apricot hues splashed across evening gowns, shirt dresses and handkerchief hemlines. For evening, Berardi switched up his tailored ensembles with embellished trousers, ombré effect brocade suits and sheer balloon sleeve tops, tempered with just the right amount of stylish allure.
