MATICEVSKI

THE STORY

Growing up in Seddon, Melbourne-based designer Toni Maticevski of eponymous luxury brand Maticevski first began his fashion career after the completion of a Bachelor of Honours degree in Fashion Design at Melbourne’s RMIT. A stint working alongside Donna Karan in New York as well as Cerruti Womenswear in the next phase of his career path pushed Maticevski to establish his own fashion collection in 1999. Within the brand, he shares his love for manipulating traditional fashion silhouettes to show-stopping effect and his stunning eveningwear and gowns have wowed the globe. Paying attention to the female form, he works with beautiful feminine shapes and his garments are designed with meticulous skill to make each a unique, one-of-a-kind investment.

THIS SEASON

For SS17, Maticevski’s collection was arguably leaner and lighter with a subtle emphasis on daywear. Dresses featured ruching, folds and frills evoked a kind of minimalist opulence in heather greys and silvers alongside sorbet shades of orange and lilac. Fluid fabrics and lurex mesh were contrasted with bonded neoprene waistcoats and skirts to decipher a sports-luxe twist we weren’t expecting. When it came down to the hemline, peplum frills were having a moment alongside sculptural waists and of course, it wouldn’t be a Maticevski line-up without at least one winged silhouette.
