ROSETTA GETTY

THE STORY

Rosetta Getty’s womenswear collections are the by-word for easy dressing. A former model and style icon herself, the Los Angeles-based designer is renowned for ‘casual elegance with a West Coast’ sensibility, making use of the art world as her core inspiration. Her first collection made its debut in 2007 with a small selection of ‘80s-inspired dresses show amongst her elite group of friends but the fashion brand has made leaps and bounds since then. Now, Getty is renowned for understated clothing bound for day-to-night glory as well as developing her own swimwear line for the first time. Her inimitable eye for fabrics is something that sums up the brand; think Japanese twill, poplin cottons and stretch cady fabrics that are universally flattering.

THIS SEASON

Reflecting her interest in art, Rosetta Getty took influences from Robert Morris as the touchstone for her SS17 collection, revealing itself in the geometric hardware detailing from his installation Untitled (Scatter Piece). Masculine silhouettes were favoured in the shape of pinstripe tailoring, shirting and trench coats, whilst knitwear was another key highlight of the show with ribbed and crochet dresses looking effortlessly cosy against the languid satin dresses and skirts spliced in rust orange and black. Getty’s attention to textiles and abstract aesthetic is guaranteed to lift your wardrobe with bold colour as well as art history intellect – degree not required.
