SEA NY

THE STORY

New York designer fashion label Sea NY breathes a rustic urban air into the everyday wardrobe. Wall Street businessman Sean Monahan was joined by his lifelong friend and designer Monica Paolini to launch the womenswear brand in 2007, offering modest separates with a soft edge; think lace, embroidery, crochet and ethereal prints. Each Sea NY designer collection draws on the uptown and downtown districts of the city, whether it’s bohemian cotton blouses and dresses or more relaxed denim pieces to transcend you through the seasons with a polished French-girl twist. We love how versatile these pieces are too; the embroidery and their chic sensibility make them a wise choice for the office and the city alongside being a faithful holiday go-to.

THIS SEASON

The womenswear brand Sea NY drew itself to mood-elevating colours for Spring Summer’17 as a compromise to loud prints and embellishments. From salmon pink and buttercup yellow to orange and rust, these cheerful hues were a breath of fresh air on pieces like the utilitarian jumpsuits inspired by Meryl Streep’s wardrobe in Out of Africa as well as the designers’ easy linen clothing. Monahan and Paolini also experimented with more dramatic silhouettes, taking light and breezy proportions in their stride against the demure A-line shapes and bohemian separates Sea NY is favoured for.
