WAITING FOR THE SUN

THE STORY

The autumn of 1999 sparked a meeting in Brittany between Antoine and Julienne of designer eyewear brand Waiting For The Sun. After a night back from one of their vacations, the pair came up with the idea of creating a collection of sunglasses that focused solely on the beautiful, raw material of wood and several years later, they placed a small collection of eyewear on the market. Success followed in Japan and Australia and soon the optician network had placed the designer eyewear brand as the leader in wooden frames, famed for its quirky silhouettes and hand carved finishes. Waiting For The Sun has also launched a new material into the mix, making use of BOIS2, a wood that is both recyclable and recycled, 100% natural and 100% biodegradable and in doing so, has announced itself as a major actor in the world of sunglasses without losing interest in sustainable development. “We use wood because it’s an interesting material ... it’s natural, light, and changes color with perspiration and sunlight.”

THIS SEASON

The Parisian eyewear brand has now developed on from its sustainable, signature wooden frames in Australian tea wood and bamboo by adding a glossy acetate collection into the mix titled ‘Slash’, featuring classic tortoiseshell sunglasses against contemporary styles in clear and coloured acetate. Wayfarer, aviator and round John Lennon-esque styles are joined by slightly more glamorous oversized and chic frames that add the perfect touch to your much-loved denim pieces. Boasting 100% UV protection and a conscious approach to designer fashion accessories makes Waiting For The Sun a luxury eyewear choice for every day with a cool, covetable twist.
